The state witnessed violence, stone pelting and altercation allegedly involving workers of the ruling Mahayuti alliance. Reports of clashes between workers of the Shiv Sena and NCP in Raigad emerged. The elections concluded at 5.30 pm, officials said.
HC postpones counting of votes to Dec 21: The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday ordered that the counting of votes for the Municipal Council, Nagar Parishad and Nagar Panchayat elections will be conducted on December 21, 2025. Congress Legislative party leader Vijay Wadettiwar, reacting to the decision, held the Fadnavis government accountable, and said, “The Election Commission has become a puppet in the hands of the government, working at its behest. The state has seen so many elections, but something like this has never happened before,” he said. Maharashtra recorded 17.11% voter turnout till 11:30 am after the first phase of Maharashtra local body elections kicked off at 8 am on Tuesday.

Suspension of elections: A day ahead of the polls, the Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) ordered the immediate suspension and revision of the elections in at least 20 Municipal Council (Nagar Parishad) and Municipal Panchayat (Nagar Panchayat), citing procedural irregularities and court cases. Elections in these places will now be held on December 20, instead of December 2. About 246 municipal councils and 42 municipal panchayats across the state are contesting the polls.
