The iconic comedy franchise Hera Pheri and the cinematic oeuvre of director Christopher Nolan have very little in common, be it in terms of the plot or aesthetics. Against the upcoming release of Nolan’s ambitious film Oppenheimer on Friday, an AI artist has imagined what the cast of Hera Pheri would look like if Christopher Nolan directed the film.
The AI artwork, made using Midjourney, a text prompt-based artificial intelligence programme, shows Hera Pheri’s cast of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty, Rajpal Yadav, Johny Lever, Sharat Saxena, Mukesh Khanna, and others in American period attire of perfectly cut suits and costumes.
While sharing these pictures, digital artist Sahid SK (@sahixd) wrote, “Imagine if Christopher Nolan, renowned filmmaker, took charge of directing the highly anticipated third instalment of the iconic film series, Hera Pheri, featuring its exceptional ensemble cast.”
This post has gathered over 3,000 likes since it was posted on July 14. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “Nolan will not be able to make such a masterpiece movie😌”. Another person wrote, “Bhai Jhonny Lever ko Aaj Tak itna serious nahi dekha…😆”. This loosely translates to, “Brother I have never seen Jhonny Lever so serious 😆”.
This is not the only time that characters from one film are put against a wildly different backdrop. Earlier this month digital artist Manoj Omre, placed Harry Potter franchise characters like Hermione Granger, Severus Snape, Rubeus Hagrid, Sirius Black, Voldemort, Dumbledore, and Dobby as Sabyasachi models.
In May, an AI art account on Instagram named Psycadelic Art (@wild.trance) posted a set of pictures that showed how some of the top Hollywood actors would look if they were to revoke all worldly privileges and live as a sadhu in some holy Indian city like Varanasi.
