Nancy Tyagi, a fashion influencer, made a stunning debut on the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, wearing a pink ruffled gown with a long train. The self-made gown, which took a month to create, has garnered widespread attention and plaudits from the Internet, including from actor Sonam Kapoor and fashion critic Sufi Motiwala.
In her post on Instagram, Tyagi shared that the gown was stitched with 1,000 meters of fabric and weighed over 20 kg. “Stepping onto the red carpet at the 77th Cannes Film Festival as a debutant feels surreal. I poured my heart and soul into creating this pink gown, which took 30 days, 1000 meters of fabric, and weighs over 20kg. The journey has been intense, but every moment was worth it. I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the love and support from all of you. This is a dream come true, and I hope my creation dazzles you as much as your support has inspired me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” she wrote.

Reacting to her post, popular fashion and beauty influencer Komal Pandey wrote, “hard work and talent in equal parts. you’re legendary, Nancy. this will go down in the books.” Actor-comedian Kusha Kapila commented, “don’t know a Cannes story better than yours. Who is Nancy Tyagi?
Born in Baranwa, Uttar Pradesh, Nancy Tyagi rose to prominence with her videos recreating outfits worn by celebrities. Over the last few years, Tyagi has replicated many designer outfits donned by celebrities, including Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt. Tyagi recreated the Louis Vuitton gown Padukone wore at the Oscars 2023 and the grey gown with puffed sleeves—from the London-based Korean designer Miss Sohee’s spring couture 2023 collection—Bhatt wore at the Red Sea Internation Film Festival.

In her videos, Tyagi begins by showing the original design. She then takes her viewers along as she searches for fabric in shops around Delhi, stitches the pieces in front of the camera, and finally reveals the final look.
