Rapper Dajua Blanding, popularly known as Dank Demoss, has sparked a social media uproar after filing a lawsuit against Lyft, the United States of America-based ride-hailing service, in Michigan. The rapper alleged that a Lyft driver discriminated against her due to her size and refused to let her into his vehicle. Demoss, who weighs 221.8 kg (489 lbs), approximately, shared a video of her encounter with the driver on January 18. In the clip, she claimed the driver refused her a ride because of her weight. The viral footage showed a heated exchange, with the two debating whether she could fit inside the car. The driver argued that the vehicle's tyres wouldn’t be able to handle her weight. Though he apologised for not allowing her in, he stood firm in his decision. He also advised the rapper to book an Uber XL instead. Demoss, in interviews with FOX 2 and CBS News Detroit, said that she could have fit in the car. "I've been in cars smaller than that," she told FOX 2. "I just want them to know that it hurt my feelings," the rapper said. In an interview with CBS News Detroit, the rapper said she was "hurt and embarrassed" because of the incident and she has "been in that same type of car many times and never had an issue." Who is Dank Demoss? Demoss runs an indie label, FSD Records, which was launched by her father as Big Mixx CEO in 2006. According to VIBE, she acquired the company after her father’s demise in 2016, and officially took over as the CEO in 2023. She first caught the Internet’s attention in 2017 after she shared a picture of herself wearing nothing but a scarf on Facebook. The rapper was also a part of Deb Atney’s reality show, Deb’s House. However, she was sent home to “work on herself” and her health, VIBE reported. In an interview in 2024, Demoss opened up about her alcohol addiction and her sobriety journey saying she drank to make herself feel better. “It wasn’t good for me, it wasn’t healthy for me, for me and my family’s relationship, it was bad. I feel like I kind of drank to make myself feel better…I’m trying to get the stress out of me, but I just put it back in my body. It was rough. It was bad for me, so I had to stop,” Demoss told MusicXclusives TV. Demoss is known for rap hits like Trouble, Miss my pops, TIME, Ring Ring, Grind Like Me, and others.
