‘Want record that I existed’: US man breaks down while sharing he’s the last surviving member of his family

In an emotional moment, a 27-year-old man was seen sobbing uncontrollably while sharing that he was the only surviving member of his family. Jeremy Hopper, a resident of Mississippi in the US, shared the video on TikTok in January and it is now circulating across all social media platforms, including X.

The viral video opens with Hopper standing in front of a mirror, recording himself. Overwhelmed with emotion, his eyes welling up, the man begins by saying, “Actually re-done this a couple of times.” As he pauses to wipe his nose, he appears to gather the strength to share his story.

“My name is Jeremy Hopper and it’s nice to meet y’all… to anyone who sees this… I’m the last member of my family left. There ain’t nobody else. They’ve passed away,” he says, his voice heavy with grief.

Hopper adds, “I’m 27 and my momma died before she was even 40. My baby brother, baby sister, both passed away as infants. And today I realised, that if anything were to happen to me today, not a single person on this earth would know I was gone. And I truly doubt that anyone would care. And I want some record that I existed. That I was here.”

The video quickly went viral, accumulating over 4 million views as several social media users expressed their sympathy and support for Hopper. “You’re the root now. Grow forward,” a user wrote.

“Based off of his voice alone i can tell this guy’s gonna have like 4 kids and 11 grandkids by the time he retires. he’ll be alright praying for you brother,” another commented.
