Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet and Google, has always been vocal about his love for cricket. His childhood dream of becoming a cricketer is well known, so it is no surprise that he closely follows the sport and its players. Recently, Pichai reacted to a viral video featuring Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, who delivered a witty response to a reporter questioning his batting skills.
During a press conference amid the third Test in the India-Australia series in Brisbane, the reporter asked Bumrah, “What is your assessment of the batting, although you’re not the best person to answer the question, what do you think about the situation of the team, considering the conditions in Gabba?”
Bumrah, known for smashing the most runs in a single Test over, cheekily replied, “It’s an interesting question. But you’re doubting my batting ability. You should Google who has scored the most runs in a Test over.” With a grin, he added, “That’s another story.”
The moment caught the attention of Pichai, who confessed on social media, “I did Google it.” He then praised Bumrah’s skills, saying, “Anyone who can hook Cummins for a six knows how to bat! Well done, Jasprit Bumrah, saving the follow-on with Deep!”

Even Elon Musk joined the conversation with a cryptic one-word comment, adding to the buzz around the clip. “Nice,” Musk wrote.
“Gotta watch a SA-IND game one day at Newlands or Wanderers,” Pichai then said.
Adding to the buzz, Google India shared its admiration for Jasprit Bumrah’s batting skills, declaring, “I only believe in Jassi Bhai.” On X, the company went a step further, calling Bumrah a “game-changing” player.
