Elon Musk’s Grok AI has created a buzz on X, with several social media users bringing their old memories to live by converting pictures into videos. Amid a sea of AI-generated clips floating on the platform, a video reimagined by Grok Imagine using a photo from Musk’s childhood, clicked some 50 years ago, emerged on social media.

In the viral clip, Musk, as a toddler, can be seen in a blue ‘Doge’ T-shirt and eating ice cream. He strikes a contagious smile before taking a spoonful of the dessert in his mouth. Reacting to the video, Musk wrote, “Grok turns an old picture of me from 50 years ago into a video.”

With over 14 million views, the video garnered a wide range of reactions. While a section of users applauded the new feature of Grok Imagine, several slammed it for making “fake memory”.

“But it’s a fake memory. What does this do to our brains? @elonmusk ( I am not anti ai and I use it as a tool for output ) this input seems different and maybe weird or detrimental?” a user wrote. “Incredible pattern recognition and enhancement is 100%. Your childhood vibe is so well recognised by Grok. In some cases where I tried it loses the track or pattern my face appears not me though,” another user commented.

“Super Cool Feature. Had My Wife In Tears Showing Her Some Old Photos That Instantly Come To Life,” a third user reacted. “Unfortunately it doesn’t always work so well. The quality of the likeness deteriorates when the animation starts,” a fourth user said.

Recently, Musk’s Grok AI offered its new Image feature for free to Android users as well. The feature was already available at no cost for iOS users. The tool allows users to create AI-photos and videos through prompts.
