In a rare occurrence, all nine members of a family in Larkana in Pakistan’s Sindh province share their birthday. Ameer Ali and his wife Khudeja, both born on August 1, got married on their birthday in 1991.
One year later, their eldest daughter, Sindhoo, was born on the same date. This was followed by the birth of female twins Sasui and Sapna, Aamir, Ambar and, five years later, male twins Ammar and Ahmar. All seven siblings were born on August 1. This is a world record for the ‘most family members born on the same day’ and ‘most siblings born on the same day’.
As per the Guinness World Records, having two sets of twins is incredibly rare. Ammar and Ahmar were born in 2003, five years after the birth of their female siblings. Their birth additionally gives them a record for the ‘most twin siblings born on the same day’.
While talking to the Guinness World Records, Ameer Ali and Khudeja described the birth of their children on the same day as a “gift from God” as all of them were conceived and born naturally. Next month, the Mangi family will celebrate all their birthdays with much pomp and show.
Previously, the record for most family members born on the same day was held by the Cummins family in the US, where five children were born on February 20, between 1952 and 1966.
