Manoj Kumar Das to be next Chief Secretary of Gujarat

Apart from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Das has also worked in the Chief Minister's Office under Vijay Rupani

gUJARATDas is currently Additional Chief Secretary to the CM. He is also holding additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary (Home).

Manoj Kumar Das, a Gujarat cadre IAS officer of the 1990 batch, will be the next Chief Secretary of Gujarat. He will succeed Pankaj Joshi, who will retire on October 31. The general administration department of the state government issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.

At present, Das is Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister. He also holds the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary (Home).M K Das, as he is known, is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, from where he has done B.Tech in Computer Science.

Das, who hails from Darbhanga in Bihar, is due to retire in December next year.After Chief Secretary Joshi, Das is the third seniormost IAS officer from Gujarat cadre. Two other senior IAS officers are from the 1989 batch – K Srinivas and Sunaina Tomar. Srinivas is now on central deputation serving as Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Tomar is Additional Chief Secretary in the education department of the Gujarat government and is due to retire next month.

Apart from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Das has also worked in the Chief Minister’s Office under the late Vijay Rupani.
