What is Spotify’s new lyrics limit?

The move was likely to lure free-tier users into buying a Premium subscription. However, Spotify has not clarified why access to lyrics was limited in the first place. While Spotify remains silent on the new limit, the company explained to 9to5Google that the “new monthly limit is higher than anyone would ever reach, and higher than any single user has even neared.”

The exact figure remains unknown. Spotify says the change will roll out to free users in the coming weeks. If you still cannot view lyrics for more than three songs per month, you’ll need to wait until the update goes live.

To give you a quick recap, Spotify had started limiting lyrics as part of a test in December last year and later expanded it to include more users in undisclosed markets including India. In the last few months, Spotify has been locking several features like the ability to shuffle, rewind, scrub, rearrange and repeat songs behind paywall in a bid to push users to buy its Premium subscription.
