Sony has launched a new PlayStation Communities app for users on Android and iOS that allows them to search for, interact with and join groups with likeminded PlayStation 4 (PS4) players that have similar interests and preferences. Sony is calling the app an easy way to stay in touch with fellow games while you are away from your console.

“Within a Community, you can join parties and launch into games with other Community members, or talk about your shared interests. For instance, if you’re having trouble finding players to tackle Destiny’s newest raid, Wrath of the Machine, a Destiny community may help you fill out your fireteam,” the PlayStation team said in an online blog.

It is possible to discover and join new communities from the app directly, which will also provide recommendations based on the games you have played, while also showing the top trending communities. The app will also allow users to check out community profiles, see who else is in the community, and view a full list of communities that you are a member of.

This is the third app for PlayStation that has been developed. Users already have access to the ‘PlayStation’ app that allows them to connect with their PS4 and let them manage functions like game downloads remotely. PlayStation users can also download the ‘PS Messages’ app that lets users see which of their friends are online and allows them to chat with them.
