Google often brings several new functionalities to the Gmail app on Android, but one of the most used features that is available on the web version is the ability to select all emails at the click of a button.
Currently, Gmail users on Android have to tap on the left side of an email and individually mark the ones they want to choose. While it may not be a huge problem for many, it is frustrating for people who often want to clear their inbox. However, this might soon change as Google is reportedly testing a new ‘Select All’ button for the mobile app.
According to a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) by @AssembleDebug, the latest beta version of Gmail for Android introduces the much-needed ‘Select All’ button. You can see the feature in action in the video embedded below.
The ‘Select All’ button will automatically appear right below the toolbar when you start selecting multiple emails, but Google seems to have limited the feature to select no more than 50 emails at once. This is because Gmail apparently fetches a specific number of emails from servers, but you can easily press the ‘Select All’ to include 50 more messages.
Another thing to note here is that when you tap on the ‘Deselect All’ button, instead of adhering to the aforementioned limit, Gmail will deselect all emails you have chosen.
Since Google often tests several features, with some features available in batches, it is still unclear if and when the ‘Select All’ button for Gmail on Android will be rolled out to everyone. Also, there is no information if the tech giant will bring the functionality to the iOS app.
