IFA 2024: Qualcomm unveils 8-core Snapdragon X Plus chip, lowering cost of Copilot+ PCs to $700

Qualcomm claims the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus (X1P-46-100) delivers 61 per cent faster CPU performance at a lower power envelope compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155U with its 12-core CPU. The chip’s neural processing unit (NPU) offers up to 45 TOPs of AI performance and supports all Copilot+ PC features, while the Adreno GPU can handle up to 4K external monitors at a 60Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm also asserted that this chip outperforms the M2-powered MacBook Air in multi-core CPU, AI, and wireless network performance.

There are two SKUs of the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus, the X1P-46-100 with up to a 4 GHz single-core boost clock frequency and the X1P-42-100 with up to 3.4 GHz of single-core boost clock frequency. Both processors are fabbed using a 4nm process and support up to 64 GB of RAM along with UFS 4.0 and NVMe Gen4 storage type. These chips offer the latest wireless connectivity standards, including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
