OpenAI has restored ChatGPT services after a massive outage. The company has not stated any specific reason for the downtime, however, the service seems to be up and running for users across the world. The outage started around 8:00 PM IST on February 14 and it lasted up to around 10:30 PM, where, users noticed prompts and errors like “Hmm….something seems to have gone wrong.” and the chatbot was unresponsive for a while. Based on Down Detector, ChatGPT faced a similar outage at around 2:06 am earlier today. In the last 24 hours, there have been over 3,000 reports as per the website. Below are some reactions on X, formerly Twitter from aggrieved users. While some were genuinely curious about what was happening to the website, some used the occasion to share memes. On January 4, ChatGPT faced a major outage with users unable to access it on mobile and desktop. Over 600 outage reports were seen on Down Detector. The cause was unknown at the time, however, it was reportedly due to increased traffic after the GPT Store launch. This was the first major outage this year for the popular AI chatbot.
