The restart of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after suspension hit a snag straightaway as the toss was delayed due to incessant rain in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Kolkata Knight Riders match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB are currently in the second position in the points table while KKR are languishing in the 6th position.

What was predicted?

The weather for Saturday wasn’t looking promising as there was a forecast of a couple of thunderstorms during and before the match according to the Accuweather App. The maximum temperature is expected to be 31 degrees Celsius for the day, and the minimum is expected to be 21 degrees Celsius.

What happens if the rain washes out the fixture?

In case of a washout, both teams split one point each. This will mean RCB will have 17 points from 12 matches while Kolkata Knight Riders will have 12 from 13 matches which effectively will end their albeit slim chances of going through to the next round. If the match goes on as scheduled, it’ll still have 60 minutes buffer time before overs are reduced.

A minimum of 5 overs is required to get a result with the cut-off time for this being 10.56 PM with the game needing to be finished by 12.06 AM on Sunday.
