A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly ramming his car into actor Nora Fatehi’s Mercedes under the influence of alcohol near Lakshmi Industrial Estate in Andheri (west) on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the incident took place around 4pm when the actor was en route to the Sunburn festival in the Sewri area, where she was scheduled to appear alongside DJ David Guetta.

According to the police, the vehicle first struck the actor’s car before crashing into a divider. A police team rushed to the scene soon and arrested the driver, identified as Vinay S, a resident of Goregaon, from the spot. The police made the accused blow into a breathalyzer, which confirmed he was under the influence of alcohol. He was immediately taken into custody and later sent to a hospital for medical examination. Police are questioning him to determine his destination at the time of the incident.

Following the crash, Fatehi’s team promptly shifted her to the nearest hospital as a precautionary measure. Doctors conducted a CT scan to rule out any serious injuries. “The doctor said the actor sustained a slight concussion from the impact,” said a police officer.

“We have arrested Vinay and booked him under Sections 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), and 125 (a) (whoever does any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, along with Section 185 (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs) of the Motor Vehicle Act. He will be produced in court on Sunday,” said a senior officer from Amboli police station.
