Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) regular skipper Shreyas Iyer, who is out of IPL 2023 due to a back injury, said he had goosebumps while watching his team’s sensational Rinku Singh hit five sixes in a row to take KKR to an extraordinary win over Gujarat Titans on Sunday night.

Rinku, who played a 48 not out from 21 balls with six sixes and one four, was on a video call with Iyer after the match where Iyer could not stop hailing the young man,”Calm and composer yaar. Class yaar class. Goosebumps aa gye yaar.”

Not even the world’s best batters would have backed themselves to hit five consecutive sixes with their team requiring 28 from the last five balls, but KKR’s left-handed Rinku did exactly that, producing a terrific knock that will be remembered and talked about for years.

The video of the call was shared by KKR’s official social media handles where this season’s skipper Nitish Rana was also seen saying, “Teri bahut yaad aa rhi hai bhai. Rinku was saying last year ki tarah chhodunga nhi is baar. Khatam karke aaunga. (We are terribly missing you. Rinku was saying I will not spare anyone. Will not stop until I finish).”

To which Iyer said,”Flashback aa rhi hai samne.”

The Titans, reigning IPL champions, looked to have wrapped up victory after Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan claimed a hat-trick to leave Kolkata reeling at 155-7 in the 17th over.

With Kolkata needing 29 runs off the final over, Yash Dayal was handed the ball and after Umesh Yadav took a single off the first delivery, Rinku cut loose.

The 25-year-old capitalised on three full tosses to clear the ropes before smashing the final two balls from outside off stump over the long-on boundary as Kolkata won by three wickets.
