Hayden launches Mongoose cricket bat in India

The Mongoose cricket bat, designed specifically to meet the new distilled demands of Twenty20,was unveiled in Chennai.

The Mongoose cricket bat, designed specifically to meet the new distilled demands of Twenty20,was unveiled in Chennai. The introduction marks the single most radical change to cricket equipment since 1771.

Run accumulation has been replaced by all-out attack in the shortest form of the game and in response, the Mongoose will now offer batsmen the potential of 20% more power and 15% more bat speed* than a conventional bat.

Traditional bat dimensions have been dispensed with. A shorter, more rigid blade is teamed with a longer, more flexible handle to offer increased power, faster bat speed and better maneuverability. The splice is incorporated into the handle to remove any dead spot from the hitting area and the shoulders have been reconfigured to add weight to the back of the blade.

The inventor of the Mongoose,Marcus Codrington Fernandez, explains,‘From the moment I first imagined this game-changing weapon, ensuring the bat was within both the spirit and laws of the game has been amongst our top priorities.”

The bat was launched by Chennai Super Kings’ Matthew Hayden, according to whom,“The Mongoose has the potential to revolutionize cricket.”

In spite of its radical design, the MCC has confirmed that the patent-pending Mongoose bat is legal** and is allowed to be used throughout India and Indian sub-continent all levels of cricket.
