Third phase: Around 43 per cent polling in Maharashtra constituencies

Around 43 per cent polling recorded in six Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai.

Around 43 per cent polling was recorded in six Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai and four in Thane in the third and final phase on Thursday.

“Around 43.52 per cent polling was registered in Mumbai seats when the polling ended at 5 pm,” sources in state Chief lectoral Office said.

Following is the approximate polling percentage: Mumbai outh (43.33),Mumbai South-Central (41.85),Mumbai orth-Central (41.82),Mumbai North-West (49.15),Mumbai North-East (42.28) and Mumbai North (46.49).

In Thane district,polling was held in four Lok Sabha seats – Thane (44.07),Kalyan (41.02),Bhiwandi (38.38) and Palghar (46.48).

The polling was by and large peaceful,barring stray incidents at polling booths. Bollywood stars voted in large numbers,with some like Aamir Khan flying from US just to exercise their franchise.

Altogether 196 candidates,including 17 women,are in fray. Over 1.59 crore voters were eligible to exercise their franchise.

The first and second round of polling in Maharashtra,which has 48 Lok Sabha seats,was held on April 16 (13 seats) and April 23 (25 seats).
