Prashant Bhushan sends a warning: AAP’s govt in Delhi ‘may not last long’

Asked why AAP was then forming the government in the first place,Bhushan said,“That is the wish of the people after the BJP refused to form the government. After the referendum in which overwhelming majority of Delhi voters asked AAP to form the government,we had no option.”

Wouldn’t the new government,coming with huge expectations,have very little time to fulfill its promises?

“Yes,there is very little time,” Bhushan said. “But what if the voters had given us a majority? Wouldn’t we have formed the government then? We know we are in a race against time,especially with the kind of expectations people have from us. We have decided to take the plunge.”

Bhushan denied he had differences with other AAP leaders,especially Arvind Kejriwal,on forming the government. “In fact,I was among those who favoured the strategy of going in for a referendum on our future course of action. Everybody is of the same opinion,” he said.

Talking about the possibility of the AAP government filing cases or “putting Congress leaders in jail”,Bhushan said: “There is always the due process of law. Once the Janlokpal is in place,we are committed to refer all allegations and complaints of corruption against the outgoing government and its leaders to the Janlokpal.”

However,no list of cases that would be referred to the Janlokpal had been drawn up yet,Bhushan said.
