Jaivardhan undertakes ‘padayatra’ to connect with people

Digvijay's son Jaivardhan six-day padayatra begun on Wednesday.

Congress general secretary,Digvijay Singh’s son Jaiwardhan, who is on a six-day ‘padayatra’ in Madhya Pradesh, has said he undertook the march as he wanted to have a first-hand knowledge of people’s problems.

During the padayatra, which began on Wednesday, the young Singh plans to travel on foot a number of villages in the Raghogarh constituency of Guna district in Madhya Pradesh.

He said he remembered having read that if any one wants to be perfect in something,he should practice it for 10,000 hours.

But at the moment,I do not know if I can find 10,000 hours to be with people and know their problems, pains and sufferings,Jaivardhan said.

Asked if his padayatra would help the Congress,he said if it happens,he would be glad but added this was not the motive of his march.

“I have resolved that during the yatra,I would never sit inside a car and do all my travelling only on foot,” Jaivardhan said.

He said he was pleased at the response to his padayatra and pointed out that different people walked with him each day from village to village.

There is lot of speculation that Jaivardhan would contest the 2013 Assembly elections from this constituency but did not comment on it. “Elections are almost two years away and a decision on whether or not I will contest the elections will be taken by the Congress,” he said.

The 24-year-old will cross the age limit by the time the next Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections are held.

He studied in the Doon School of Dehradun, went to the Sri Ram Arts College in New Delhi and pursued higher studies in the United States of America. He left a lucrative job there to return to his homeland.
