BJP, RSS to firm up LS polls plan

The broad strategy of mass-based organisations with an eye of elections will be finalised.

Ahead of the BJP’s three-day conclave later this month, top RSS leaders from across the country have assembled in Hyderabad to discuss preparations of the Sangh Parivar for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections among other things. BJP president Rajnath Singh Wednesday flew to Hyderabad to attend the three-day executive meeting of the Sangh Parivar, which concludes on Thursday.
Singh will participate in the discussion to coordinate preparations with mass-based organisations of the RSS, sources said.
While RSS leaders sought to suggest that it was a routine meeting of the organisation, they conceded that “politics” will be one of the items top of the agenda of the meeting on Thursday. “Obviously, a detailed discussion about the preparations of the Parivar’s mass-based organisations in view of the forthcoming elections is on the cards,” said an RSS leader, who did not want to be named.
“The broad strategy of mass-based organisations with an eye to elections will be finalised. The details of coordination on those action points will be followed up separately among the coordinating affiliates of the Parivar,”the leader said.
The meeting will also help all organisations exchange notes about the political situation and provide suggestions to top leaders for their future strategy. “Most of these top leaders have been active in various parts of the country. They will provide their inputs during the meeting. Politics is obviously one of the issues under the radar,” said another RSS leader about the meeting.
Coming ahead of the BJP’s conclave, which is slated for January 17-19 in Delhi, the Hyderabad meeting will help the party to finetune its electoral preparations based on the feedback from RSS and also provide directions to issues and regions of cooperations between the BJP and RSS’s mass-based organisations in the runup to the Lok Sabha elections.
Before proceeding for Hyderabad, the BJP president held a meeting of party general secretaries about the broad organisational issues for discussion on Monday. Apart from the preparations for the BJP’s conclave, the meeting was learnt to have identified three key areas of focus that the party leadership must exhort its cadres during its conclave. These included large-scale mobilisation in the form of “one vote, one note” campaign, undertaking booth-level party workers convention at each Lok Sabha constituency level and setting off the candidate selection process after the conclave gets over.
