Peanut butter shake, instant popsicles…here are 7 great smoothies for kids

Loaded with fresh ingredients, these recipes for drinks give your child essential nutrients and a burst of energy.

Orangetastic recipe

Besides being loaded with anti-oxidants, ginger has both anti-microbial and anti-biotic effects, while turmeric makes cells resistant to infections. Your little one is sure to enjoy this bright coloured juice!

Ingredients:

Apple 1 (small) | Carrot 2 medium size (200gm) | Orange 1 medium | Ginger 1” piece (peeled) | Fresh turmeric ½” piece (peeled)

Method:

Add all the ingredients into a blender and pass through a large sieve to attain a uniform mixture. Stir and serve.

Note: If large chunks are left behind, blend again by adding a little water.

Peanut Butter Shake recipe

A high energy drink for super active kids, loaded with good quality protein and calcium for strong bones and the richness of cocoa.

Ingredients:

Chunky peanut butter 2 tbsp | Banana 1 medium size | Cocoa powder ½ tbsp | Milk 150ml

Method:

Blend peanut butter with some milk.

Once a semi-liquid consistency is achieved, add the remaining ingredients in the blender and blend until a creamy mixture is formed.

Serve chilled.

Watermelon Lemonade recipe

A healthy twist to your regular lemonade, which also provides iron and vitamin C, promotes glowing skin and boosts immunity.

Ingredients:

Watermelon 150 gm | Lemon 1 tbsp | Mint 4-5 leaves | Sugar 1 tsp | Water, as per consistency

Method:

Place watermelon into a blender. Cover and puree until smooth. Strain through a sieve.

Add the other ingredients and blend to a uniform solution.

Serve chilled. Garnish with a few mint leaves and watermelon pieces.

Multivitamin Punch recipe

This tasty juice is packed with immune boosting nutrients that help lower inflammation and keep infections and viruses away along with essential minerals and vitamins.

Ingredients:

Broccoli 2 stems | Cucumber ¼ cup | Baby spinach 10-12 leaves (blanched) | Bottle gourd ½ cup | Pear 1 medium size | Flaxseed 1 tbsp | Lemon 2 tsp

Press all the ingredients through a juicer, stir and serve.

Coconut Water recipe

Ingredients:

Tender coconut

Method: Blend the coconut water along with the malai and serve.

Golden Milk recipe

A home remedy from grandma’s cabinet, which is a great immunity booster when suffering from cold, cough, flu, joint aches or just need a shot of antibiotics.

Milk 150 ml | Turmeric powder 1 tsp | Jaggery 1” piece | Black pepper ¼ tsp

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together and bring them to boil.

Let it simmer for a minute or two and switch off the flame.

Sip it slowly while still hot.

A nutrient packed tasty treat for every time sweet cravings haunt your child. Loaded with the benefit of yogurt and wholesome fruits and nuts makes it an ideal snack.

Greek yogurt ½ cup | Berries/ papaya/ peach/ grapes ¼ cup | Chia seeds 1 tsp | Honey 2 tsp

Method

In a blender, add yogurt and ¾ of the chopped fresh fruits. Cover and blend until smooth.

In this mixture, add the seeds and the remaining chopped fruits.

Transfer it into an ice pop mould and let it set for 3-4 hours.
