* Arvind Kejriwal has been slapped yet again. This time, by an autorickshaw driver — one of his main support groups. People on the street are speculating that the whole episode might have been stage managed and set up to gain voter sympathy just a couple of days before the elections in Delhi. The manner in which Kejriwal and the man who assaulted him kissed and made up was directed at TV cameras. The differences between the two has been forgiven and forgotten. All forms of violence must be condemned roundly. But people are upset that Kejriwal left them high and dry after being voted into power in Delhi.

* Apropos of the editorial ‘Didi vs EC’ (IE, April 9), Mamata Banerjee appears to have burned her fingers, yet again by attempting to take on the Election Commission. This type of attention-seeking politics of confrontation is inappropriate. The EC is a constitutional body, and it needs to be given the respect due to the guardian of our electoral process — the lifeblood of this republic. It must be respected by one and all as it ensures that fair elections take place. Didi’s defiance appears to be a gimmick to garner support and
portray herself as the victim, as usual.

* This refers to the editorial ‘Eat your khichdi’ (IE April, 8). So far, our country has never had a non-Congress government at the Centre with a clear majority. The Congress leadership has became arrogant and needs to go. They are smug because they think there is no other viable alternative. In this context, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s statements make perfect sense to me. They deserve reflection.
