Tripura will host a two-day meeting of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) of India region Zone-III from Monday at the state Legislative Assembly, Speaker Biswabandhu Sen said Sunday.

The meeting will be chaired by Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, and speakers and deputy speakers from the eight north-eastern states will attend it, besides other officials.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will host a dinner for the leaders attending the meeting, many of whom started arriving in Agartala on Sunday. They will also visit places of interest, including the Tripurasundari temple and Neermahal on Monday.

Speaking to reporters at the Assembly on Sunday, Sen said: “After their visit to these places, we shall sit with them in the conference room of the Assembly at 12.30 pm. The meeting is expected to continue for one and a half hours… Our chief minister has extended support to us at the administrative level and has declared them as state guests.”

The gathering will also decide where the next conference will take place. The last such meeting in the state was held during the former Left government’s regime in 2017.
