A tribal youth was shot in his face during an argument at Khagendra Roaja Para in Tripura’s Dhalai district.
Following the incident, a case has been registered at Ambassa Police Station against three brothers – Biswaram Tripura, Joisa Tripura, and Ankajoy Tripura – on charges of causing grievous injury with weapons, and illegal possession of arms, among others.
Speaking to indianexpress.com, a senior official of the Tripura Police said a few local youths were having a booze party on Thursday night when a brawl broke out over some disagreement.
“As a result, the victim received grievous injury on his left cheek and other parts of his body. Hearing the sound of firing, locals reached the spot and saw the accused persons fleeing to the nearby jungle. Later on, the police and fire service personnel shifted the injured person to a local hospital, wherefrom he was further referred to the GBP Hospital in Agartala for better treatment,” the official said.
The official added that after the trio had a heated argument with the victim, they brought two countrymade guns and shot at him intending to kill him.
Both countrymade guns have been seized by the police and a search has been launched to nab the three accused.
