Yugoslav Dy PM sacked

The former opposition politician brought into the government in January said yesterday he believed Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic would support his proposal for a UN-controlled Kosovo peaceforce.

Milosevic has refused to allow foreign troops on his territory, a key plank of a big-power peace plan for Kosovo, causing collapse of peace talks in France earlier this year.

The White House, in a quick reaction to sacking of Draskovic, said the move demonstrates that President Milosevic had grown increasingly isolated from his own top leadership.

quot;It8217;s clear that President Milosevic is isolated even within his own regime,quot; national security council spokesman David Leavy said. quot;It8217;s clear that even his own top leadership believes that he has to stop his repression, stop his deception, stop his manipulation of the media and comply with the demands of the international community.quot;
