NEW DELHI, July 21: This story comes right out of a Bollywood potboiler: Four youths in a Maruti car attempt to abduct a girl early on Monday morning. She manages to jump off the vehicle. An ACP still under training gives chase on his motorcycle. Failing to catch up with them, he heads back to where the girl is and shortly after, the miscreants also return to the spot, only to be arrested.

According to the police, a Tibetan girl, Nikki, a resident of Majnu ka Tila, had taken a lift in a white Maruti car from ISBT around 1.15 am to go to the French Embassy. Sources however claim they are not sure why the girl was going there at such an odd hour.

Once she was inside the vehicle, the four youths allegedly tried to molest her. The girl resisted their attempts and jumped from the car after managing to open a car door near Rajghat. She spotted a police motorcycle and raised an alarm. The ACP on the bike, posted as the in-charge of the Kamla market area, asked the policemen riding pillion to take care of thegirl while he chased the car, headed to the trans-Yamuna area.

ACP Avichal lost track of the car in Laxmi Nagar and returned to the where the girl was. It was while the police team were questioning the girl that the car returned. Nikki reportedly alerted the policemen and the four men were arrested.
