Birth control patch may increase heart attack chances
A new study shows that women using birth-control patch run double the risk of developing blood clots in arteries8212;increasing the risk of heart attacks8212;than those who take the pill, said the US Food and Drug Administration recently. The results, however, are preliminary and do not require immediate action, added the FDA. The agency advised women to discuss the risk with their doctors.

Hypertensive medicine medicine for blood pressure reduces the risk of Alzheimer8217;s Disease, said a study published by the Archives of Neurology. While all hypertension medications in the study seem to have an impact, the greatest reduction in the risk of Alzheimer8217;s was found in those taking diuretics, which cause the kidneys to excrete water and salt but spare the elimination of potassium.
