Day Four belonged to the up and coming designers of Indian fashion
Show of the day
One of our never-miss shows is the LFW Gen Next designers, many of whom are surprisingly better than the stalwarts. Naga lad Imchatsung Imchen8217;s sharply cut jackets, trousers and cute blouses teamed with checked pants and shorts in red, black and white had a strong cultural connect. Delhi lad Harangad Singh announced his entry into the big league with a superb selection of high-waist pants, scooped necked jump suits, butterfly shoulders and capes and cutwork halter dresses in muted shades like olive, leaf green and brown. Very original. Anand Bhushan8217;s fantastic use of shibori detailing and mix of soft with boxy in cocktail dresses would surely be lapped up Park Avenue princesses.
Ensemble of the day
ARJUN Khanna ensures opulence and grandeur aplenty. But what we admired the most was an intricately done 8216;mocha dual chatai bandhgala8217; teamed with a round collar mint linen shirt and mocha narrow pants. Smart.
Trend of the day
THE way it goes, if you ain8217;t got deep pockets this season, you ain8217;t got nothing. Dangle beads from them, embroider zardozi patches on them or paste on pork chop pockets like Lecoanet Hemant did and you8217;re good to go. Shoulder pockets on jackets for men and and cute kangaroo pockets for ladies as seen in some of the designs created by Gen Next designers lead the way.
Celeb of the day
IT was Maharashtra Governor Sanayangba Chubatoshi Jamir and his wife who sent the shutterbugs into a frenzy. The seating too was special, with a couple of high backed red velvet chairs making way into the main show area. This season, it looks like politics and fashion are going hand in hand.
Goss of the day
QUEENIE Dhody8217;s presence here has ensured the other socialites stay away. None of the well-heeled Mesdames of Mumbai want to be seen here, La Dhody8217;s domain.
