XEN8217;s arrest stayed again

According to the prosecution, Bhagai, on April 4, had alleged irregularities in the allocation of aluminium glazing work of GMCH8217;s block C and D. An enquiry into the allegations had revealed that former UT chief engineer K.K. Jerath, the petitioner, besides other co-accused had entered into a conspiracy for obtaining benefits, thereby causing loss to the Administration, the prosecution had added.

Today, seeking pre-arrest bail for the petitioner, the defence counsel stated that Amarjit Singh was being implicated in the case.

Claiming the complaint to have been filed by Bhagai out of professional rivalary, without verifying the facts, as work had been allocated by Jerath to contractor Yash Paul Saggi, the counsel added that the perusal of the first information report revealed that the accused had not committed any offence.

Regarding the allotment of work, the counsel stated that the superintending engineers were competent to allot work only up to Rs 10 lakh. Any work crossing the Rs 10 lakh limit was allocated by the CE after floating tenders, he added. The counsel also stated that the petitioner was suffering from diabetes.
