
2,000-yr-old quot;Salt Manquot;
TEHRAN: The remains of a 2,000-year-old mummified body called quot;The Salt Manquot; is to be exhibited in Tehran on May 18. Iran8217;s official IRNA news agency reported here on Tuesday that the remains, with a number of tools and articles, were discovered in 1994 in a salt mine near the village of Hamzehloo, in western Zanjan province.
IRNA said that according to Iran8217;s Cultural Heritage Organisation, the discovered articles include part of a torso, a boot with a leg in it, a few pieces of bones and a number of metal and pottery articles.
It had been proven that the man was a 20-year-old hunter or prince who received a blow shortly before death, the agency said.

NEW YORK: An Andy Warhol self-portrait was sold for 2.42 million dollars at an auction of 20th century masters. A European dealer, who was not identified, on Tuesday purchased the Warhol, which set a record for a Warhol self portrait.
quot;The work was one of eight in a series of selfportraits and the price was the most ever paid. Among the other items at the Christie8217;s auction was Richard Diebenkorn8217;s Berkeley, which sold for 1.81 million dollars a record for one of his works,quot; said Christie8217;s vice-president and head of 20th century Art Christopher Eykyn.
The top price paid on Tuesday was for Amedeo Modigliani8217;s quot;Woman in a Plaid Dressquot; fetching 5.39 million dollars. Another Modigliani, quot;Seated Young Girl,quot; sold for 4,842,500. Also sold was Pablo Picasso8217;s quot;Bust Of Woman,quot; which went for 3,302,500 dollars. None of the buyers was identified.
30 human skulls found in Mexico
MEXICO CITY: A police patrol discovered the grisly remains of 30 human skulls in a cave in a Mexico City park, television reports said late on Tuesday. The age and origin of the remains were not immediately known, but the television report said a suspect who was caught at the cave was taken into custody. Two policemen were walking through the Chapultepec park in the western part of Mexico City when theysaw some suspicious activity. They chased the suspect 30 meters through the cave where they made the arrest and discovered the skulls, the report said.
