
Japan loses8217; to Russia yet again!
TOKYO: Japan lost yet again to Russia albeit in a fishing match. Russian President Boris Yeltsin defeated Japanese Prime Minister Hashimoto 2-0 in a match who will catch more fish this morning at Kawana, 130 km south-west of the Japanese capital, where the two leaders met over a summit meeting.
Former Soviet Union invaded Japan at the end of the World War II and seized the southern Kuril islands. Japan has been demanding to settle the 53-year territorial row which has soured relations between the two countries.

Dubai festival
DUBAI: The curtains finally came down on the month-long Dubai shopping festival with a fun-and-frolic filled closing ceremony last night attended by thousands of residents and visitors.
The festival that has now become an annual feature of the Emirate8217;s Dubai reinforced its position as a shopping centre for the peopleparticularly from the Gulf countries and the Asian sub continent.
The festival saw numerous raffles and promotions scheme which made millions out of buyers overnight. One such event, the last in a series, was a mega draw of seven Lexus cars worth over Rs one crore, was won by a Sri Lankan Hilary Jensz.
