PANCHKULA, Oct 14: The Health Department has issued WHO guidelines to doctors on dengue fever and is attempting to reach those residing in rural and slum areas through handbills and other media.

During the past 30 days, 22 cases have been detected in the district. Dengue cases have been reported in Kalka, Pinjore, Khera Sitaram and Tagra villages, Rathpur Colony, Maheshpur, Rally village in Himachal Pradesh, Mubarakpur, Mauli Jagran, Kiratpur and Khatauli villages and Budanpur. As per the steps taken by the department, fogging began on September 20.

Fogging was done in the Sectors 5, 9 and 10. Other sectors were taken as per the following schedule, September 21 (Sector 11), September 22 (Sector 15, 16), September 24 (Sector 17, industrial area phase I), September 25 (Sector 18,8), September 27 (Mata Mansa Devi Complex), September 28 (Sector 12 A, Rally), September 29 (Sector 4, Hamirpur), September 30(Sectors 1,2), October 1 (Sector 21).

Chief Medical Officer Dr H.C. Nagpal said information is being imparted concerning the symptoms and preventive measures regarding the disease. He said people are being educated to protect themselves from mosquito bites and use mosquito repellents during the daytime for the dengue mosquitoes bite then. He added that the health department is ensuring that there is no stagnant water and that residents should also drain out water from coolers, tanks, barrels, drums and buckets when not in use.
