Wheat, kerosene being distributed

VADODARA, Sept 21: The district administration has started distributing five kg of wheat and five litres of kerosene 8212; both at the rate of Rs 2/kg which is Rs 3 and 70 paise less than the actual respective prices 8212; among the rain-hit people rehabilitated in 22 pockets in the city.

The wheat and kerosene would be distributed from 22 fair price shops in and around the affected slums, an official spokesman said, adding that rural officials had been instructed to identify such pockets in their respective areas so that similar supplies could start there as well within a couple of days.

District Supply Officer Ashok Singh said the wheat and kerosene to be distributed were part of the district8217;s stocks, all commodities saved from being sold on the black-market. Meanwhile, officials said moderate rains had been forecast for the next 48 hours in several parts of Central and South Gujarat.
