Whatmore, Amre named coaches

The upcoming NKP Salve Challenger Trophy will be a battle for supremacy among India’s high-profile coaching aspirants — Dave Whatmore, Praveen Amre and B Arun. All three are currently associated with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore and will be in charge of the four-day tournament to be played in Cuttack next week.

Whatmore has been picked as coach of the India Blue team, led by Yuvraj Singh. Praveen Amre will coach the India Reds, whose captain is Badrinath. And the India Green side, with Kaif as their skipper, will have B Arun as coach, sources in the BCCI told The Indian Express. The three teams will take each other on a round-robin basis in day-night 50-overs-a-side matches, and the tournament will be played at the Barabati Stadium from October 23 to 26
