It started with reducing the role of dupatta, using it just to make the dress complete. Today, dupattas are seldom used to cover the face or head, or for that matter even the torso. The effort went on to hold the top with thin strings or, even better, make it backless and showing off that artificial / real beauty spot just at the right place. And the experiment is on with various parts of the trousseau till it becomes boldest.

8220;I have spend months in the gym to get into the perfect shape and shelled out money in beauty parlour to get that glow on my skin and all will be worthless if nobody is able to see and appreciate it. I need to look my best and also feel like a queen. So I have a backless blouse with pearls strap designed for me,8221; says Pooja Shirodkar, a soon-to-be-bride.

Vinita Manoj, owner, Shii Laxmi Ethnic Finery, observes, 8220;Bridal wear has undergone a sea change and now we get to see more of a western effect on the bridal wear. Unlike in past, we have more of figure flaunting dresses for the brides now. Starting from the low cut and broad necklines to flaunt that heavy jadau necklace to slits in the lehangas the bold brides of the era are in for all experiments.8221;

Owner of Glamour boutique, Monika Talreja, says, 8220;Being bold and flaunting their figure doesn8217;t always mean they need to wear less clothes, therefore nets and laces make the hot favourite choice of the would-be-brides this season. High-end customers even go for a netted blouse with embroidery just in front, or a backless blouse with a thin straps criss-crossing. There are different ways of draping the saree that highlights curves and cleavages and yet gives you a traditional look.8221;

Talreja also mentioned about the single back knot blouse making a come back. 8220;It8217;s remembered as Sharmila Tagore style blouse, and is back in trend. Given its short length that helps show the midriff, and low back that shows that perfect back. Cut-work blouse serves the purpose very efficiently as they hide and show just as you expect them to.8221;

Monika Jindal, a would-be-bride, says, 8220;I couldn8217;t think of going for a very bold outfit on wedding day, however, for the cocktail party I chose an outfit with a western touch because no elders were there. While the embroidery and colour represented the culture, the knee-length slit in the lehangas made it look very trendy. The main attraction was the backless choli that was much short in length and also low cut, thus revealing the back and the midriff. I had a tattoo with glitter made on my belly and that looked awesome.8221;
