Caught unawares by the scandal over its ministers watching pornography in the Karnataka Assembly at a time when it is trying to target the UPA on corruption and ethics in politics,a red-faced BJP assured on Wednesday that it would take the strongest action against them.

The party said the incident was unfortunate and indecent. The BJP national leadership has taken note of what happened. It is unfortunate. Certainly it demeans the political system. We have no qualms in stating that. The resignations have been accepted8230; Strongest action will be taken against them, said BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

In fact,the embarrassed BJP leadership went into damage control on Tuesday itself after the story broke out on television news channels,with party chief Nitin Gadkari,who is campaigning in Uttar Pradesh,holding consultations over the phone with senior party leaders.

A senior functionary said all the senior leaders agreed that the three ministers Laxman Savadi,C C Patil and Krishna Palemar would have to be sacked to send out a clear message.

Gadkari spoke to Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda as well as state party chief K S Eswarappa and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa Tuesday night and directed them to take action.
