Sinha, a former Union minister and a disgruntled BJP MP from Patna, attended the rally in Kolkata organised by TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee where he reportedly spoke against Modi and the BJP-led government at the Centre.
BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy Saturday attacked Mamata Banerjee for her ‘United Opposition Rally’ saying: "this 'Mahagathbandhan' is political opportunism and that the party is not threatened by the opposition meeting.
This was the first organisational appointment after the party’s defeat in three state polls. Rudy was earlier Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the present NDA government.
Rudy, a Lok Sabha MP from Bihar who had defeated RJD president Lalu Prasad's wife Rabri Devi in 2014 general elections, was given independent charge of skill development ministry by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but was later dropped in a cabinet reshuffle.
The first indication of the cabinet reshuffle came late afternoon when junior HRD Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey was named as the BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit chief by Shah. Pandey, therefore, is set to exit the Narendra Modi government.
“First time we have decided, and the HRD ministry is on the same page, that we are going to establish a Board for a certification of equivalence of CBSE and ICSE to all these 2.3 million students (in ITIs),” Rudy said.
Rudy, who was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the CREDAI Pune Metro Kaushalta Diwas, said Maharashtra has been the leading state in the country in terms of the implementation of the central government’s skill development programme.
