Defence Minister A K Antony Saturday assured mother and sister of Shaurya Chakra winner Captain Sumit Kohli that a fresh inquiry would be held into his death. Sumit,26,who won the gallantry medal for counter-insurgency operations in J&K,was found dead with gunshot wounds in Lolab,Kashmir,in April 2006 while he was serving in 16 Rashtriya Rifles. While the minister refused to give a deadline for the inquiry,he reportedly gave an assurance that it would be held at the earliest. Kohlis mother Veena Kohli and sister Namrata met Antony and demanded a CBI probe into his death. Talking to reporters after the meeting,Veena Kohli said her son was a brave officer and could never have committed suicide.
