After the RSS,the US on Wednesday came under the Congresss scanner for allegedly supporting Anna Hazares movement. Terming Hazares insistence on observing an indefinite fast as nothing but blackmail, the ruling party wondered how he was carrying on his movement given that he is alone and has no organisation.

Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi said in the past 65 years, about 100 countries secured freedom but none of them emerged as powerful as India. Citing the PMs statement in the Lok Sabha about many forces that would not like to see India realise its true place in the comity of nations,Alvi said,Which are these forces? What was the need for America to state that Annas movement should go on? This creates doubts and suspicion.

At a time when we are growing fast,we have to think about forces, which want to destabilise the government and the country. Americas statement has to be taken seriously,it cannot be ignored, he added. We should find out the forces, which are working behind this movement. The US has never supported any movement in this country. Why does the US support this movement? What are the reasons and why is the US supporting this movement?

In the morning, the Congress Core Group met at the PMs residence to chalk out the governments strategy.

Sources said while Delhi Police was talking with him regarding the number of days he could be permitted to hold fast, the government wont concede ground to civil society representatives as far as the Lokpal Bill is concerned.
