Einstein wrong? Impossible!
That was the reaction of most scientists across the world ever since they heard that Einsteins Theory of Relativity might be wrong. Physicists at CERN have found that neutrinos can travel at speeds faster than light. This means, says columnist and American theoretical physicist Michio Kaku, that everything we think we understand about nuclear physics would need to be reassessed. If proven true, the experiment would make Kaku revise his theories because they are based on relativity. He points out that over the decades,Einsteins theory has been challenged and all of them proven wrong. Kaku says,In the 1960s,in one study, physicists found that the speed of light seemed to oscillate with the time of day. Later,it was found that, since the apparatus was outdoors, the sensors were affected by the temperature of daylight.

Putins comeback
Luke Harding gives us a glimpse of the relationship that the Russian PM and President share. He recounts a US diplomats joke doing the rounds that President Medvedev sits in the drivers seat of a new car, examines the inside. He finds the steering wheel missing. He turns to Putin and asks: Vladimir Vladimirovich, where is the steering wheel? Putin pulls a remote control out of his pocket and says: Ill be the one doing the driving. So Medvedevs announcement of stepping down to make way for Putin comes as no surprise. Putins third shot at presidency means,Harding says, the West faces another decade of difficult relations with the Russia. For Russia,Putins presidency means the country faces a long period of political and economic stagnation and single-party rule.

Think before you hit send
Chris Anderson says hes been doing what most of us do,drowning ourselves in e-mails. On an average work day,he receives a variety of e-mails that were not a part of his agenda. And he suddenly sees them become a part of his schedule. Why is the e-mail volume increasing? He argues that this is due to a simple fact: e-mail is easier to create than to respond to. This seems counter-intuitiveafter all,its quicker to read than to write. But reading a message is just the start. It may contain a hard-to-answer question, such as What are your thoughts on this? Or an attachment. And it may be copied to a dozen other people, all of whom will soon chime in with their own comments. Every hour spent writing and sending messages consumes more than an hour of the combined attention of the various recipients. And so,without meaning to,were all creating a growing problem for one another.
