Vodafone extends pay-per second tariff to world calling cards

Vodafone Essar announced per-second billing scheme for long distance and international calls using its 'World Calling Cards',further fuelling the ongoing tariff war among the operators.

Telecom major Vodafone Essar on Thursday announced per-second billing scheme for long distance and international calls using its ‘World Calling Cards’,further fuelling the ongoing tariff war among the operators.

The new ‘world calling cards’,for prepaid and postpaid users,will offer STD calls at one paise per second,Vodafone said in a statement.

Calls made to US/Canada through these cards would be charged at 4 paise per second,while calls to the Gulf region would be available at 12 paisa per second. UK/Europe (fixed) would be available for 4 paise/sec,while calls to mobile phones in the region would be charged at 12 paise/sec.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of ‘World Calling Cards’ with per second charging. A first in the industry,the new Vodafone World Calling Card offers customers greater convenience,good value for money and seamless connectivity with family and friends in India and abroad,” Vodafone Essar Chief Marketing Officer Kumar Ramanathan said.

Vodafone users can make calls to China and Australia/New Zealand (fixed) at 5 paise/sec,Australia/New Zealand (mobile) at 13 paise/sec and the South East Asia at 6 paise/sec through the calling cards,the statement said.
