Vijay Jolly apologises to NCW for defacing act

Jolly told Commission that it was a spur of moment agitation, but was questioned about how he sought permission from party leaders for a agitation.

BJP leader Vijay Jolly on Tuesday apologised to the National Commission NCW for Women for defacing the house of former Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury and shouting slogans against her last week.

Jolly told the Commission that it was a spur of the moment agitation, but was questioned about how he sought permission from party leaders for a spontaneous agitation.

He presented himself before the Commission and apologised for what he had done outside Chaudhurys house. He said he had acted at the spur of the moment. We questioned him if that was indeed the case how was it that other leaders of his party had given statements that they had asked him not to go ahead with it. He had no answer for it, NCW member Shameena Shafique said. She said the panel has little role to play in this matter.
