A day after National Conference MP Sharif-ud-din termed a cold-blooded murder the killing of three youths in an encounter at Qamarwari,the police on Tuesday said they were militants affiliated with a Jaish-e-Mohammad module. Identifying them as Waseem Raja Guru of Seer Jagir Sopore,Zahoor Ahmad Hajam of Bandipore and Arshid Bashir of Alsafa Colony,Sopore,the police said the militants were gunned down after they opened fire on a police patrol,killing a constable on Monday. Reacting to the NC MPs allegations,Jamp;K Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda said they militants were killed in an encounter in full public view and the module was headed by Waseem Raja Guru and the rented accommodation of Arshid Bashir was used as a hideout. This module was also involved in the killing of two CRPF men at Pattan town on November 10. On Tuesday,however,the NC MP said the media had distorted his statement.
