UPA wants to make PAC puppet: Joshi

Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee PAC that examined the 2G spectrum scam

Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee PAC that examined the 2G spectrum scam,on Tuesday said the UPA government was trying to make the PAC a puppet in its hands and divide it on party lines. He said the PAC was trying to give a fair report on the misuse of public funds but the UPA and its ministers were trying to manipulate it. Joshi was addressing media persons at the BJP state headquarters here.

The PACs job is to keep a tab as to where the public money is being used. But the UPA,specially four of its ministers, are trying to manipulate the committee and the report. The Congress,BSP and SP are jointly involved in the corruption in UP and this is why they together support rejection of the PAC report, said Joshi.

The PAC chief said UP was also a hub of irregularities and corruption, but the states PAC was dysfunctional. There are so many scams of the BSP government which the BJP has been taking about in the public. There are documentary evidence but the PAC in UP is hardly active.

Joshi also hit out at the state government over the farmers agitation in Bhatta and Parsaul villages in Greater Noida.

The state government is working towards the welfare of rich industrialists and is not worried about the welfare of the poor farmers. This is not the first time that the farmers have reacted so strongly. The state government is buying land from the farmers at a much lower price and giving it to the industrialists, Joshi added.
