Micro-blogging site Twitter has acquired social-media analytics company Hotspots.io for an undisclosed sum.
8220;We8217;re incredibly excited to announce that Twitter has acquired the Hotspots.io team,8221; Hotspots.io said in a statement.
Following the acquisition,Hotspots8217; staff would join Twitter8217;s revenue engineering team which would focus on developing new analytics tools for the social networking site8217;s advertising and publishing partners.

Twitter,created in 2006,is a communication platform allowing people across the world to interact instantly through 8216;tweets8217;,or messages not exceeding 140 characters. It has more than 100 million active users worldwide.
Last month,Twitter had announced that it has acquired Posterous,a start-up firm in mobile blogging business. The social networking site had acquired internet security firm Dasient in January.
In December last year,Twitter received a combined investment of USD 300 million from Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud and his investment firm Kingdom Holding Company KHC.
