No sooner did Tigmanshu Dhulia announce his project Valmiki Ki Bandook with Jimmy Sheirgill that the director faced protests against the title of his film as it sports the name Valmiki. This made a certain Indian community furious.

Reveals a source close to the project,A particular Valmiki Samaj in Punjab raised objections against the use of Valmiki in the films title. They thought we were referring to Valmiki of the Ramayan. But in fact,in the film,Valmiki is just the surname of the lead protagonist, played by Jimmy Sheirgill. Jimmy, who has acted in and produced Punjabi films,is a big name in the North and hence the protests.

As per the source, the problem has now been resolved after Tigmanshu Dhulia cleared the air. He even stated that he is ready to change the title if it creates any inconvenience to anyone.

As of now, only Jimmy has been finalised for the film that will be directed by Dhulias assistant Karan Bhutani. The film portrays Uttar Pradeshs gun culture and will go on floors in October-November. Dhulia is currently hunting for shooting locations.
