THOUGHT PROVOKING
The Congress partys decision on Monday to advance its press briefing from 4.15 pm to 12 noon got many BJP leaders thinking. They were obviously unaware that rescheduling of the briefing was because of Rahul Gandhis meeting with party leaders in the afternoon. BJP spokesman Capt Abhimanyu claimed that it was an outcome of an internal Congress rivalry between Information amp; Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari and AICC communications department chairman Ajay Maken. Stating that both compete to set the Congresss media agenda every morning,Abhimanyu said Tewari does it effectively through Twitter and, therefore,Maken sought to take the lead by holding his briefing at noon itself.
REPRIEVE FOR MPs
SENIOR SP leader Ram Gopal Yadavs consideration for his political rivals may have given reprieve, albeit temporarily,to some MPs. Taking suo motu cognisance of The Indian Express report about how MPs appointed their kith and kin as personal assistants,Rajya Sabha Committee on Ethics, headed by Yadav, was slated to discuss this issue on Monday. He had to defer it as he noticed that senior leaders from other political parties Satish Misra BSP and Ravi Shankar Prasad BJP were not present. The SP leader was of the view that full attendance was needed to deliberate on such a serious issue.
