Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,who was to receive the French honour of the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters Chevalier Dans lOrdre des Arts et des Lettres,requested the French ambassador Jerome Bonnafont to postpone the award ceremony as it was scheduled to take place on the same day in New Delhi when the blasts rocked Mumbai. Her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan was with her at that time.

A matter of honour

Tabu was honoured by Chicagos Indo-American Center IAC for her contribution to cinema. IAC also hosted a reception and dinner for her. She was also honoured by Hindi Lovers Club who presented a shawl and a plaque to her during her visit to the Center. The actress was there as part of Eye On India festival wherein a film retrospective of the actress was held.

Auto motion

After visiting the Hanuman Mandir in Jaipur,Ekta Kapoor recently visited the dargah at Ajmer Sharif. She went there in an autorickshaw as there was high-security bandobast. Since SAARC country delegates were visiting,Ektas car was not allowed beyond a certain point.

Temple visit

Following his divorce last week,Prabhu Deva and his companion,actress Nayantara,were spotted at the Guruvayur Temple in Kerala. Prabhu donned a saffron veshti and white angavasthram while the actress,a Christian by birth,waited in the car. The Guruvayur temple allows only Hindus to enter its premises. After spending some time in the temple,they drove back to Kochi.

Courting matter

Filmmaker Gaurang Doshi,of Aankhen and Deewaar fame,recently filed an appeal in the Sessions Court against his conviction on charges of subjecting his wife Madhuri to cruelty for dowry. Doshi was earlier sentenced to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment under IPC section 498A husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty and also asked to pay a fine of Rs 5,000. He was also sentenced to undergo one year RI under section 323 for voluntarily causing hurt to his wife.
